Hi, I am Dr. Maura McGill, I am an expert in natural hormone treatments.
Today I answer any questions about the normal age of menopause or perimenopause. You may be experiencing some symptoms and wondering if you are approaching menopause. Perimenopause occurs any time from 40 on in the average woman. The average age of full menopause is about early 50s. The youngest in my experience was 28 and the oldest in my experience was 62.
Age is really not a good guide. It happens to women who get their symptoms even when they are still having regular periods. If your periods are becoming irregular, and you have a low libido and you have mood swings, night sweats, and you’re a bit of a mess then there is a test. You can have a blood test to test your hormones and see where they are.
Menopause can be surgically induced by the sudden removal of your ovaries prior to their natural menopausal failure. When they stop functioning post-menopause, you can take them out any time you like. Except, if they are healthy, in my view. But, if you have healthy functioning ovaries that are taken out surgically or some medical reason, they you will be plunged into surgical menopause.
Now this is not to be confused with ovarian failure. Ovarian failure can occur in very young women for different reasons.
Hormones after a hysterectomy and there is a another blog about that particular thing, but if you are looking for more information about menopausal symptoms and for treatments, then go to http://www.fixwomenshealth.com/
